A much-needed update to my previous review about KURA. I have been apart of KURA for over 3.5 years now and every year this place gets better. When I first joined KURA it was a CrossFit affiliate and has since transitioned its model to an OPEX gym (individual-based) – best decision ever! In the course of that time, Melissa has grown the coaching team adding Coach Arttu and Coach Josh which has created an incredible coaching team. They not only create your own personalized training programs but also help with questions related to nutrition, sleep, and stress. You schedule monthly 1:1 consults with coaches where you get the opportunity to ask any questions or simply talk about everything and anything related to your workouts, your results, day to day life, adding activities. These consults have been so helpful in helping me to understand where I stand and how can we align my training with my goals.
Personally, upper body strength has always been a big weakness of mine that never seemed to improve in the group class. With the individualized training program we have been able to prioritize and work on weaknesses to change that, I’ve learned how to Pull and Push correctly using the right muscles. As a result, I have seen improvement in my bench press, overhead press, and stability, as well as pull up strength. Consistency, accountability and the feedback I get from Coach Melissa have been the key to my improvements.
